メタン
Japanese edit
Etymology edit
Borrowed from German Methan.[1][2][3] Listed as a borrowing from English methane by some sources,[3][4] but this seems less likely considering the phonology.
First cited to a text from 1914.[1]

Noun edit
- [from 1914] (organic chemistry) methane
