A black pill used in traditional Chinese medicine "to promote blood circulation, to remove blood stasis, to resolve phlegm, and to remove obstruction from the collaterals in the treatment of apoplectic hemiplegia with muscular contracture, numbness, facial paralysis and aphasia due to blood stasis or obstruction of the collaterals by phlegm".
