南島/南岛 (Lâm-tó͘, literally “Southern Islands”), referring to the general region beyond south of the island of Luzon (known as 呂宋/吕宋 (Lū-sòng, “Luzon / The Philippines”)), specifically either the region of the Visayas archipelago or the island of Mindanao, especially the Visayas. These are terms used by wholesale merchants trading across different parts of the Philippines centered from the perspective of Metro Manila, the National Capital Region (NCR) of the Philippines.
