EtymologyEdit

Short for 地蔵菩薩 (じぞうぼさつ, ​Jizō Bosatsu), itself a translation of the Sanskrit क्षितिगर्भ (Kṣitigarbha) बोधिसत्त्व (bodhisattva).[1][2]
