1. to prepare for one's lessons (as a teacher)

   我正在忙着备课。

   wǒ zhèngzài mángzhe bèikè

   I am busy right now preparing for class.

   我还要备下周的课呢。

   wǒ hái yào bèi xiàzhōu de kè ne

   I still have to plan for next week's lessons.

Usage notes

• As demonstrated in the example sentences above, 备 bèi and 课 kè can be separated by a time adverb.
