- An aromatic reddish-brown clear liquid used in traditional Chinese medicine "to remove heat and counteract toxicity, and reduce pharyngeal swelling, in the treatment of high fever caused by influenza, headache, sore throat, laryngitis, running and obstruction of nose, cough, and constipation".
