Uncertain;[1] possibly from either:

+ *vฤharaสฐ (โ€œof the springโ€), from Proto-Iranian *wฤharรกh, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wฤsarรกs (perhaps whence เคตเคพเคธเคฐ (vฤsarรก, โ€œof the morning (light)โ€)), vแน›ddhi derivative of *wรกsrฬฅ (โ€œspringโ€).
