Etymology edit

Not a native Latvian suffix, -isms occurred in many borrowings and is now fully integrated. Ultimately from either Ancient Greek -ισμός (-ismós) or Ancient Greek -ισμα (-isma), like its English cognate -ism (see etymology of -ism).
