Suffix edit

-stra

  1. Occurring in surnames, stra derives from the suffix -ster (-sater “inhabitant”) + -a (genitive plural ending). Often the first part of the -stra-surname is a short form of a place name, e.g. Dijk from Surhuizumerdijk.[1]
