Borrowed from Koine Greek Ἀβεσσαλὼμ (Abessalṑm) in the Septuagint, from Biblical Hebrew אַבְשָׁלוֹם (ʾAḇšālōm, literally “father of peace”). The forms Absālōm, Absālōmus are borrowed from the Hebrew directly.
