From Arabic, from أَبُو (ʔabū, father”; “one of, one with) + دَفّ (daff, side) + ـدُف (-duf, intensive plural suffix).(check that it the last element is really an intensive suffix as opposed to the plural marker of دُفُوف with an intrusive 'd').
