  1. (Greek mythology) The four Greek gods of the winds, (Boreas, Notus, Eurus, and Zephyrus), who were each ascribed a cardinal direction from which their respective winds came. They were the sons of the Eos (goddess of the dawn) and Astraeus (god of the dusk), and their siblings were the five Astra Planeta ("Wandering Stars/Planets").
