Appendix:Belter Creole/finyish

Belter Creole edit

Etymology edit

From English finish.

Verb edit

finyish

  1. used to form perfective aspects of verbs

Usage notes edit

  • This verb is used to form the perfective aspect of verbs. The verb finyish is placed before the verb it modifies. For example, in the sentence im bek (it is broken), finyish would be placed after the verb bek (to break), forming the sentence im finyish bek (it has broken). In case auxiliary verbs denoting grammatical tense occur (specifically, ta and gonya), finyish is placed after them, e.g. im ta finyish bek (it had broken).
