Apparently identical to Sanskrit केतु (ketú, brightness, light; appearance, form, mark), from Proto-Indo-European *koytús, from the root *keyt- (clear, bright, shining), whence also *haidraz (clear, bright).[1] (A pre-form *keydʰ- is also possible.)
