Proto-Semitic
Noun
*birk- ~ *bark-
Comment
In Common Semitic there was a metathetic root formed, which yielded *ruk(u)b-at- "knee" (cf. Arabic رُكْبَة (rúkba)), both of which had reflexes preserved in Arabic, Aramaic and Ethiopian (Tigre and Ge'ez).
