English edit
Etymology edit
From the 1939 film adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 book The Wizard of Oz, which includes the line, "Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!".
Phrase edit
Usage notes edit
It is truer to the original to keep the stress pattern the same as in "lions and tigers and bears, oh my" — but it often deviates from that form.
