Short for bayonet Neill–Concelman, after its bayonet mount locking mechanism and its inventors, Paul Neill and Carl Concelman.

- (telecommunications) A connector for a coaxial cable which keeps the central wire from touching the cable's outer shield.
Usage notes edit
When expanded, the "BNC" is also incorrectly defined as the "British naval connector", "British naval coupling", "bayonet nut connector", "bayonet nut coupling".
