- (Súdwest-Fryslân) First attested as 't Blauw Huys in 1718. Calque of West Frisian Blauhûs, a compound of blau (“blue”) and hûs (“house”). Named after a water board tax office with conspicuous blue roof tiles; these were a rare sight due to their high cost. Compare Roodhuis.
