Category:Plurals edit

This category, and its subcategories, have got to go. The whole "plurals" system doesn't conform to the current standard of categories. This should be merged with Category:Noun plural forms by language or maybe Category:Plural nouns by language, or something. Likewise, Category:English plurals should be moved to Category:English noun plural forms (or whatever is decided), along with other language categories. --Yair rand (talk) 23:29, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Category:Plurals by language would suit our current system. I don't favor deleting it. And yes plural does refer to noun plural, although other parts of speech can have plurals, but English speakers tend to assume it means 'of nouns' since other English parts of speech don't have plurals - apart from some pronouns. This is actually part of a much larger problem - we have two parallel category and template systems - one suited especially for English (English plurals, English third-person singular forms,...), the other appropriate for all other languages of the world. These need to be unified. -- Prince Kassad 09:30, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I suppose {{feminine plural of}} doesn't categorize in [[Category:English feminine plurals]] as we don't have any. Mglovesfun (talk) 16:23, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
There are, notably and coherently, English adjective comparative forms, Italian adjective comparative forms, Polish adjective comparative forms, among 27 similar categories. If we follow this pattern of (language) (POS) (variety) form, the most natural solution would be renaming "Category:English plurals" to Category:English noun plural forms. --Daniel. 09:39, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Moved to Category:Plurals by language. Objections? Mglovesfun (talk) 11:10, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'd much rather something that indicates it's a noun form, but I suppose this is at least an improvement. --Yair rand (talk) 11:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
I was really concentrating on the 'by language' issue. I quite like 'noun plurals by language' which would in turn involve renominating this category for a move. Though... this page is so ignored, I think Grease Pit coverage is the way to go, or Beer Parlour. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:31, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
