Northward the eastern rim passes into what might at first be regarded as the western spur of a double échelon‐fold, the lofty mass of mountains involved in the flexures carrying the face of the range fully twenty‐five miles to the east, and presenting the finest illustration of the échelon type of topography and its manner of development, to be found in the entire length of the Colorado range.
