Sometimes eagles and other raptors are found injured or acting abnormally. In these situations, Fish & Wildlife Service employees are commonly called, and we may attempt to capture the bird. The Kulm Wetland Management District transports captured raptors to the Raptor Rehabilitation facility at the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, ND.
This Bald Eagle is being kept in a pet carrier, ready for transport. A blanket or tarp is used to help keep the bird calm, because this capture can be quite stressful for them. Fortunately, we received word that this bird was successfully rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
