Summary

Description
English: The Strid is a narrow channel through the rock that the River Wharfe flowes through. It is believed to have been named as a corruption of the word Stride, as people would stride across the river there. At its deepest point the strid can get up to 65m deep. The force of the water is very great, and people have been drowned after losing their footing and being dashed against the rocks. It is just up-river of Bolton Abbey. Yorkshire.
