Haida Gwaii

Etymology edit
Modern coinage used by the Haida people since the 1970s, from the Haida language, meaning "Islands of the People."[1] The archipelago, which had previously been known as the Queen Charlotte Islands (being first identified on maps with this name in 1790), was officially renamed Haida Gwaii by the British Columbia government on June 3, 2010.[1]
