- A taxonomic family within the order Gadiformes – certain of the merluccid hakes.
Usage notes edit
The zoologists are divided about the status of Macruronidae as a taxonomic family. It is considered to be part of the family Merlucciidae by many, in which case it would be named subfamily Macruroninae, consisting of the same genera.
