Etymology edit

Probably from Latin patagīum (gold edging or border) + -ēnās (declined feminine form of -īnus); coined by German botanist and ornithologist Heinrich Gottlieb Ludwig Reichenbach in 1852, probably in reference to the appearance of the collar feathers.[1]
