Proto-Germanic edit

Etymology edit

From Pre-Germanic *wúlkʷos, from Proto-Indo-European *wĺ̥kʷos. Changes: *wúlkʷos > *wúlpos > *wulfaz (analogically: *pénkʷe > *pémpe > *fimf). Such sound change is irregular as the expected outcome would have been **wulhwaz.
