Possibly cognate with Old Korean 星利 (*PYEli), but the first vowel does not match.

Reconstruction

The reconstruction of the first vowel is debated. If the word is related to *poy (“fire”), then */o/ should be reconstructed. Note that */o/ either gives Japanese /o/ or /u/.
