From Proto-Indo-European *kʷetwóres and cognate with Ancient Greek τετρα- (tetra-), Latin quadri-, Gaulish *petru, Welsh pedry- Lithuanian keturì, Latvian četri, and Old Church Slavonic четꙑре (četyre).[1][2]
