Etymology edit

First attested as rosmella between 800 and 850. Probably derived from a compound of Proto-Germanic *rausa- (reed) and *malhô (glen, swamp). The toponym was later reinterpreted as rosmolen (horse mill). Compare Orsmaal in Orsmaal-Gussenhoven.
