The phrase "pronounced further back in the throat" makes no sense. It's totally wrong: Russian [ш] is a post-alveolar, English [sh] is palato-alveolar, which make them very similar in terms of place in the oral cavity. "Back in the throat" suggests something palatal or velar, or even glottal, like [x] or [h].--Vkulikov (talk) 18:07, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

"totally" is a bit of an exaggeration, I think. It should say mouth instead of throat. I don’t think "back in the throat" suggests any of those choices..."sh" cannot be pronounced in the throat, or further back toward the throat.
