- I thought the same myself. All of Category:yi:Christianity was suspiciously added by a Christian (and all needed formatting help). I'm hoping to be done with this stage in the struggle to format en.wikt's Yiddish component soon, so that I can get on to pure entry creation. - I created the category, but I didn't create any of the entries in it. Anyway, I don't see what's "suspicious" about it. People may well want to say things like "Some assimilated Jews put up a Christmas tree, but frum families like mine don't" in Yiddish, and this entry helps them do that. —Angr 16:31, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Off topic, but Yiddishly relevant: I don't know if you guys have noticed, but past participles in {{yi-verb}} and plurals in {{yi-noun}} will now create greenlinks if you click the 'Accelerate...' checkbox at WT:PREFS. - [sorry to sound like a blogger] I just found out that my father has a Yiddish copy of אינגל צינגל כוואט in a weird, YIVO-approved nonstandard orthography. - Yeah, well, it's here or Wiktionary talk:About Yiddish or one of our talkpages. Might as well be here. I think YIVO was once more flexible; the book is somewhat old, a reprinting with loose translation into English (also in verse). It's just weird because it points a lot of words that any beginner could figure out (like האָט) but it doesn't actually point as much as YIVO would want. Also, using ידיש (ydish) and ינגל (yngl) for ייִדיש (yidish) and ייִנגל (yingl) is a little unfamiliar to me. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 07:16, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Oh, it's living hell to transcribe. My fingers cursed me until I agreed to stop after a few stanzas. My progress can be seen at s:yi:אינגל צינגל כוואט. The orthography is so damn strange! If I didn't know that מעשה'לע was megile, I don't know how I would figure it out. It's so idiosyncratic, and the spellings change within a single stanza! - I'm sure someone will appreciate it someday! But I know what you mean. I had the same problem transcribing the works of Peader Ua Laoghaire in Irish at Multilingual Wikisource. His spellings are also highly idiosyncratic, and not even consistent with themselves. —Angr 09:20, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
