It means to take pains AWAY . . .and that's not understandable on its own...they said "ala" يعمل على just means to serve to (function) الدواء يعمل على ازالة الحمى the medicine serves to reduce the fever. المشروع يعمل على تحسين الانتاج the project serves to increase production.
