Also traditional? edit

Can this also be a traditional character? It's showing up in the Vietnamese database, which it probably wouldn't if it weren't also used as a traditional Chinese character. 24.29.228.33 04:15, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know much about Vietnamese, but this character is from Simplified Chinese, not Traditional (as the entry states, the traditional character is ). It's possible that the character was already in use before Simplified Chinese came into effect (like with the character ""), and it was this earlier simplified version that became adopted by the Vietnamese. --TBC 04:21, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

That was the question. There are a lot of characters that were in use (often with a different definition) before official simplification occured. However, this entry doesn't state that. Should it? 24.29.228.33 04:35, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you can find a reliable source verifying that it's true, then go ahead and add it as the character's etymology. --TBC 04:40, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid I can't at this moment; I only know that it appears when searching in this database. 24.29.228.33 04:55, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
