Both "so that's the way it is" and "so it's like that" commonly carry the connotation that the speaker is offended at some new piece of knowledge that they have obtained. I do not think that the mandarin version is intended to convey this meaning. I think the simpler "so that's it" is more accurate translation, simply conveying that the speaker now understands.
