According to this wikipedia article the さつ reading is kan'on and the せつ reading is go'on. But what kind of reading is さい? Is it tōon or kan'yōon or some other type of reading? The uſer hight Bogorm converſation 09:01, 11 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

That is another reading altogether actually. See the Middle Chinese section of the pronunciation section of the Chinese section. An example of a Chinese term that uses the shài reading is 殺衣縮食 (shài yī suō shí). In Japanese, 大辞林 (Daijirin) only has the following terms with this reading: 減殺 (gensai), 相殺 (sōsai), and 愁殺 (shūsai). 大辞泉 (Daijisen) lists this reading as 漢音 (kan'on). Wrong IPA for Middle Chinese edit

The Middle Chinese final of 殺 is 黠, which is -ɣɛt in Zhengzhang's System, not -ɣat. Mteechan (talk) 18:30, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Return to "殺" page.
