This is an interesting one. 表 has four meanings:

1. n. surface; outside; external
2. v. to show; to express
3. n. table; form; list
4. n. (wrist) watch

Only the fourth meaning (watch) has a separate traditional form 錶. This is a case where two traditional characters have been combined into one simplified character. This happens from time to time. Another example would be: trad. 裡 or 裏 or 里／里 or 里 or 里, simpl. 里 (lǐ).
