Are there any examples of English words formed with abdomin- by itself instead of with the extended form abdomino-? All of the compounds I can find start with abdomino-, which makes it seem like that should be the main entry rather than an "alternative form".--Urszag (talk) 15:18, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

abdominalgia, maybe? - -sche (discuss) 19:57, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
A combining vowel would be expected when the morpheme is followed by a consonant, and expected to be missing when followed by a vowel. Looking at all of our terms starting with "abdom", there's only abdominalgia that has a following vowel, but it follows the expected pattern. One could interpret that to mean "abdomino-" is losing the vowel before another vowel, or "abdomin-" is adding an epenthetic "-o" before consonants to avoid clusters. Whether "abdomin-" is a true prefix or just the genitive stem of the Latin word used in compounds is another issue. Chuck Entz (talk) 20:43, 22 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
We have abdominalgia, abdominizer, and abdominous. I would say this is cited. Kiwima (talk) 00:26, 31 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
