Would it not be more correct that this was a variant of "adapter" (and a more correct form) for the definitions other than "one that adapts"?

The plural says "adaptoare" implying the regular pronunciation of "a-dap-'tor", but the declension table says "adaptore" implying "a-'dap-tor". I've definitely heard the latter stress variant, but my IRL dictionary lists the latter as a variant. It's inconsistent with the definition and the declension table should prefer the plural "adaptoare". I don't understand how that declension table works or how it can be fixed.
