A person who shoes horses is a farrier, not a ferrier. This is supported by Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) Adamm 11:17, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've consulted the OED, and it agrees. However, the OED does have the additional spelling ferrer, which may have led to the confusion. I note that the root is ferrum "iron", chemical symbol Fe, which could also have led to the confusion. --EncycloPetey 11:20, 4 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
