In use in print with this meaning? edit

We need some kind of use in books or newspapers or magazines or possibly scholarly journals or Usenet. This looks like a term for which we could find usage. DCDuring TALK 02:04, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is difficult because the words have a long history, used for describing rhythm in general, but the following seem to be referring to the modern specific sense (using a single boom and a single bap).

    • 2003, Vibe magazine, Vibe Media Group, ISBN 1070-4701, Volume 11, Number 7, page 148,
They don't do that traditional hip hop boom bap, it's more of a boom, boom, boom, like reggae.
    • 2005, Billboard magazine, Nielsen Business Media Inc., ISBN 0006-2510, Volume 117, Number 29, page 61,
Buckshot describes the album as a hybrid of jazz, soul and boom bap, a style of hip-hop identified by its drum arrangement.
    • 2005, Mary Lowenthal Felstiner, Out of joint: a private & public story of arthritis‎, Lincoln: University of Nebraska Press, ISBN , page 142,
... a thud (backpack dropped at the door), a boom-bap (radio hip-hop). The house is quiet ...

For the definition, I suggest: "A hip-hop style characterised by its drum arrangement, often muffled.", but I know nothing about it, so I'd better leave it to experts to add the entry. Dbfirs 09:46, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm hoping the contributor will return. I fear we have driven him away. DCDuring TALK 17:35, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I hope we hear from him again. I was unable to find the entry that had been deleted, but I see it is now back. Was there an easy way to get to it? Dbfirs 08:55, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
