Need help! edit

Moved from Beer parlour.

Will somebody please explain how and where to raise the issue of discussing the possible/probable origin of the use and meaning of a word? I can make a good argument that 'bull' as in nonsense, and in describing watered rum -- archaic -- is a derivative of 'bulling' and that 'bullshit' is a city/townie usage arising from a misunderstanding, or in ignorance of the origin.

The issue clearly needs debate. (anon. about 2005-02-19)

Just start a discussion on the relevant talk page for the word in question: Talk:Bull, Talk:Bullshit, ...
If that proves inadequate, Wiktionary:Tea room is also a good place for debates about specific words. --Connel MacKenzie 06:59, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

It is very difficult to find out how to ‘sign’ a submission! Which is the reason for this second post.

Just for tildes in a row without spaces between: ~~~~ — Hippietrail 06:23, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Heteronormativity or heterospecificity edit

Is sense 13 really specifically a man who has sex with another man’s wife or girlfriend? Or is that just what the definer has defaulted to, and the only person whose gender matters is the bull himself. Would a man who has sex with a man's husband or boyfriend, a woman's husband or boyfriend, or a woman's wife or girlfriend not be called a bull?
