Appears to be from 1929 (according to OED), but I'm unable to locate an electronic copy of this book to confirm.

Chambrer, to place a wine in a 'Chambre', or dining-room, where it will gradually acquire the temperature of the room.

  • The OED does have two pre-60s cites, but they are in square brackets because they're not really considered English -- they are uses of the French word and always translated, as in the example you gave. Ƿidsiþ 14:49, 10 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
