Compromise <> Decision Based on Conflicting Information, Right? edit
I'd like to ask about the meaning of "compromise". A decision based on conflicting information is not a compromise, right?
My understanding is that "compromise" applies only when you make a choice designed to satisfy conflicting objectives. If you make a choice informed by conflicting opinions, but designed to satisfy only one objective, then it is not a compromise.
For instance, suppose I'm selling widgets. One advisor says I can maximize my profit by selling many of them at $1 each; another advisor says I can maximize profit by selling fewer of them at $3 each; and I, not knowing who is correct, set the price at $2 each. It would be incorrect to call that a "compromise", right?
