invented the term edit

I think I invented this term in about Feb, 1984 at the university of Auckland, NZ. We had to hand in our masters theses in March and everyone in the department was freaking out. One day in the common room I said 'it's crunch time' and no-one knew what that meant, because I was trying to combine 'it comes to the crunch' with the concept of the critical time before an important event. I explained. People seemed to like it. Within a few days it had spread throughout the department and then I heard it on the campus and then later in general use in society. A year or so later I heard it on TV.

Not likely, since the term predates 1984. The term appeared in 1978 and 1979 in New York Magazine, for example, and I've found a 1958 quotation as well. --EncycloPetey 04:51, 9 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
