Talk:current events

I think this page is in the wrong place. First of all, I'm not sure there's a real need for it in the first place. If words have entered the language, we put them in. Simple as that. But if there is a need for a list of recent words, I think it should be in the Wiktionary: namespace, along with all the other index pages. The "current events" page should just contain the definition of "current events". -- Ortonmc 04:36, 8 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I tend to agree. Hippietrail 07:00, 8 Feb 2004 (UTC)
It should definately be in the Wiktionary namespace, however, while translating messages for wiktionary:nl I couldn't find the nessecary message to do so (perhaps MediaWiki:Newslink or so?) Bemoeial 00:02, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
In any case, this is not a list of words that have recently entered dictionaries, as the tagline says, as many of these are much too recent to have entered all but the most newly-minted print dictionaries. Perhaps a better tagline would be "...that are entering the language".
I've made this change. — Paul G 13:30, 15 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I was going to move the contents of this page to "Wiktionary:Neologisms" but that page already exists. Where else might they go? — Paul G 08:42, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I like this page as I am always interested in new words and like to be able to get to this page easily. It should stay where it is.

Change into normal article edit

As of today this was the article on RfD which has been there the longest. I had hoped that someone would come along and set up and maintain something for "our" current events, perhaps at Wiktionary:Current events, but it didn't happen. So I've change the contents into a normal article about the phrase "current events". Eclecticology 07:03, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

There is a page Wiktionary:Announcements for that. --Dangherous 23:01, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Return to "current events" page.
