1. To obtain from something else. For instance (from Wiktionary's definition of Idiomaticity): An expression is “idiomatic” if its full meaning cannot be easily derived from the meaning of its separate components.

The definitions are a bit vague, some example sentences would do good. I often have this problem. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to create a new template in the style of {{rfp}} just for this purpose? henne 09:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, WT:TTBC#Requests for English example sentences already exists for this purpose. "Request for examples" (rfex) might be quite a bit clearer, though. It could also have a lang= parameter. --Connel MacKenzie 09:43, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, I had seen WT:TTBC#Requests for English example sentences before, but forgotten about it. But as you see, it isn’t very active and organised. I would propose it be treated in a similar manner as this page and WT:RFD, and a similar template. That way, the page would become more useful. Also, it is much easier to insert {{rfex}} than to browse to that page and add an entry... henne 16:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I dunno. I'm becoming more enamored with specific cleanup tags these days. Example sentences are only one tiny portion of the WT:COW efforts. A separate indication somewhere, that just clearer examples are needed seems like it could be useful. And henne did say this is a common problem. More to the point, I don't see the harm in having this particular template {{rfex}}. If it doesn't work out, you can glean entries for COW from it when it gets deleted, right? Should I be bold here, or was there something else? --Connel MacKenzie 00:58, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
