Both edit

Both dike and dyke seem to share most meanings in US and UK, but in the US dike is the spelling; dyke is not usually considered an error though (unlike, say, colour, which is an error in GenAm.) How should this be indicated on these entries? --Connel MacKenzie 23:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

A dyke and a ditch together edit

When you build a dyke, one of the biggest problems is seepage. This makes the ground muddy and as a consequence it endangers the effectiveness of a dyke. Typically a ditch is on the other side of the dyke in order to collect this water and allow it to flow away.

Typically the amount of material and its composition is such that the ditch is not the material used in order to build the dyke. GerardM 00:29, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well... edit

We shouldn't just have dike and dyke redirecting to each other. Dyke started first, albeit w/r/t the lesbians, so let's park the definitions there pending a consensus to the contrary. — LlywelynII 18:56, 11 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
