Danish origin edit
The page says that the English word has origins in Danish "flense". I am not a language person, but if it is supposed to mean, that it origins in a contemporary word, it is spelled "flænse" these days (which I’ve added as the translation). —Arne (talk) 08:26, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

- Maybe. flense is an obsolete spelling, common until at least mid-19th century, and it might have been the dominant spelling when it entered English. I don't care enough to check.__Gamren (talk) 01:54, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
