Maritime Law and... edit

I recall reading somewhere that for either flotsam or jetsam, the original owner retains rights, but for the other it's a case of "Finders, keepers". Trouble is I can't remember which way round it is. Can anyone help, please?

Flotsam is removed from the vessel by natural causes, without intervention of the ship's master or crew, and the owner retains some rights to the salvage. Jetsam is jettisoned by the ship's master or crew, and the owner has lost all rights to the salvage but is still held responsible for it. - Amgine/talk 15:00, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. MT
