"handbook" vs "manual" edit

From W:handbook, it follows that "handbook" is only sometimes synonymous with manual. To what extent it is synonymous to guidebook I do not see.

Wikipedia (boldface by me):

The name "handbook" may sometimes be applied to reference works that are not pocket-sized, but do provide ready reference, as is the case with several engineering handbooks ...

Relation to "guidebook" edit

I have removed "guidebook", as the main spelling "guide book" is mostly a book for tourists, says both Wiktionary and Wikipedia' W:Guide book. --Daniel Polansky 21:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
